Writ of Amparo gives hope to search for justice
MANILA, Philippines -- After urban poor leader Lourdes Rubrico was abducted, detained and forced to agree to become a military asset, she lost her belief in the rule of law.
But when she got from the Supreme Court yesterday a response to her plea for a writ of amparo, Rubrico said there was still hope in the country’s justice system.
“I am grateful to the Supreme Court for responding to my problem. There is still good laws in our country,” Rubrico, who chairs the Ugnayan ng Maralita para sa Gawa at Adhikain Federation, said in a phone interview.
